ELISA TSC Meeting - 22-Feb-2023 [Minutes]

Ahmann Philipp (XC-CT/PRM1)

Hello all,

For those having issues accessing google docs, here comes what was written down today during the TSC meeting.

(Sorry for html mail and missing plain text. It made my life much easier to transfer from gdoc to mail)

### minutes start ###

Agenda & Notes:

  • Review action items from last meetings
  • ELISA Spring Workshop
    • discuss potential dates in April and member host: April 12-14 or April 17-19, April 19-21, May 2-4, doodle poll to determine best dates.
      • Start at noon on the first day. Wrap up in the early afternoon on the 3rd day to have two full workshop days.
    • Mainly for core participants and members
    • Ideally in-person in Europe, can accommodate virtual if needed
    • Max 30 participants
    • Bosch: Hildesheim or Berlin
  • Further events
    • AGL AMM in Berlin March 08th and 09th
      Registration for the event:
      https://events.linuxfoundation.org/agl-amm/
For members and invited guests. If you want to go there, reach out to Kate and Philipp and they see what is possible.
    • Safety-Critical Software Summit in June - CFP deadline extended to Feb 27th
    • ELISA bi-monthly Seminars: speakers from adjacent open source communities (Xen, Zephyr, CIP, Real-Time and etc.) or organizations or companies with topics you think would be of interest to ELISA
      • Xen session by Stefano Stabellini (triggered by Aerospace - Steve)
  • Monthly WG summary
    • Architecture
      • No report
      • Working further on the ks-nav tool and also on the STPA like analysis of the Kernel.
    • LFSCS
      • Started looking into RT Linux
      • Elana will add a few more words offline to set “started” in context.
    • OSEP
      • Making progress against the requirements.
    • Tools Investigation & Code Improvement
      • Looking for more people to participate.
      • The tools are stable, and need someone to dig deeper into the topic.
      • Supporting the Automotive & Systems WG in the CI and docker setup.
      • Needs some advertisement to attract people, e.g. with a seminar.
      • Will write up a short incentive paragraph for anyone to want to join in this effort.
      • Write a blog post (draft started already some time ago, to be continued)
      • Could offer a mentorship in this area, but this also requires a mentor (meaning that Sudip and Lukas have the time as a mentor)
        • Maybe also a former mentee could become a mentor.
    • Systems
      • PR open to document the end2end example with Xen, Zephyr and Linux.
      • Port to include AGL is ongoing. (Works locally, but not having Zephyr in)
      • Hard times with the closed source binaries which need an agreement with the SoC vendor preventing us to bring the example system in a CI
      • Now looking for a more accessible reference hardware with Zephyr and Xen support. A good candidate may also be QEMU.
      • Docker container for reproduction can be prepared in case the user brings the Renesas binaries.
      • One pager will be presented (again) at the AGL booth during embedded world in Nurenberg.
    • Automotive
      • Improving documentation for the safety-app. Some flaws from the past need to be cleaned up.
      • The CI image is enabled to have workload tracing possible. Need to now give it a try.
      • Presentation at the AGL AMM in Berlin is accepted, talking about the Automotive WG current status and achievements and the linkage to other working groups. https://sched.co/1IMKp
    • Medical devices
      • Goals to be drafted in next meetings.
    • Aerospace
      • 44 people registered on mailing list
      • 6-7 people engage in meetings.
      • First item: Survey on state of the art on usage of Linux in Aerospace
        • Becoming at least a whitepaper as a goal of the activity.
  • AoB
    • none
